Our Projects
One of our flagship projects is the Dutch non-profit organization Stichting Coldcasezaken, translated into English as The Coldcase Foundation.
The foundation was laid in June 2022, when founder Sander Meyer – after obtaining his Private Investigator diploma – purchased the domain coldcasezaken.nl and began publishing unsolved murder and disappearance cases. In a relatively short time, Meyer managed to add more than 250 cases to the website, all described in great detail and in his own factual wording.
The website soon began attracting more and more monthly visitors, and the foundation’s social media accounts also saw a steady rise in followers. As a result, the foundation’s posts were shared thousands of times, most of them calling for renewed attention to specific cold cases.
Thanks to the large number of visitors and the site’s high ranking in Google search results, the organization started receiving a constant stream of tips related to the cases featured on the site. These tips are carefully reviewed and assessed for value by the foundation, which now has more than eight team members. Relevant information is shared in an orderly and structured manner with the Dutch authorities. The police have repeatedly expressed appreciation for the foundation’s work and see it as a valuable supplement to their own efforts. Over the years, a solid working relationship has developed between the two.
In October 2023, Coldcasezaken officially became a foundation, marking an important professional milestone for the organization. Since then, the team has been working on its mission at an even higher level.
Because of the value of its content, the website has been archived by the Royal Library of the Netherlands, officially recognizing it as part of the country’s digital heritage — an honor that founder Meyer is proud of and grateful for.
In January 2025, the organization achieved its first tangible success when a missing person case in neighboring Belgium was solved. A deceased young man, unidentified for five years, was finally given a name by the team, providing answers to the family who had never stopped searching for him. The victim turned out to be an 18-year-old from Egypt. This marked not only the foundation’s first resolved case but also its first international breakthrough.
The team continues to work tirelessly on numerous other cases and hopes to report new successes in the near future. When that time comes, this website will be the first to share the news.
Because Meyer didn’t want to focus solely on cases from his own region, he decided shortly after launching coldcasezaken.nl to create an American counterpart. This led to the birth of coldcaseworld.com, which gradually developed into what it is today: a modest version of the Dutch site, yet featuring nearly seventy unsolved American murder and missing person cases, along with numerous unidentified deceased individuals the team investigates and draws attention to.
Starting in the second half of 2025, the website will receive increasing attention. The goal is to make coldcaseworld.com just as reliable a database as its older Dutch sibling. Tips are also received through this platform from people who believe they know something about a cold case. These tips are carefully reviewed and, when relevant, forwarded to the appropriate police or sheriff’s department.
